Samsung speaker cleaner: remove water and dust

Samsung Galaxy phones have no built-in speaker cleaner, but Speaker Cleaner works in Chrome or Samsung Internet: set media volume to maximum, hold the phone bottom-down and play a 30-second run. If the sound is thin rather than muffled, check Dolby Atmos and the Equalizer in Sound quality and effects first.

Where the speakers are on Samsung phones

Hold the phone so the speaker you're cleaning faces the floor.

  • Main speaker: the grille on the bottom edge, next to the USB-C port.
  • Earpiece: the thin slot above the screen. On Galaxy phones with stereo speakers it also plays media.
  • Some budget Galaxy A and M models have a single bottom speaker only.

Samsung Galaxy phones have no built-in speaker cleaning sound. The settings that affect how a cleaning sweep sounds live under Settings › Sounds and vibration › Sound quality and effects, where Dolby Atmos, the equalizer and Adapt Sound can each reduce low-frequency output.

Clean your Samsung speaker in 4 steps

  1. Open Speaker CleanerIn Chrome or your phone's own browser. Disconnect earbuds.
  2. Volume to maximumMedia volume, not ringtone volume.
  3. Speaker facing downBottom edge down for the main speaker.
  4. Press StartPlay up to three 30-second runs.

To clean a Samsung phone speaker, open Speaker Cleaner in the browser, turn media volume to maximum, hold the phone with the bottom speaker facing down and play one to three 30-second runs. The 150 to 200 Hz sweep pushes water and loose dust out of the grille without any app.

A Samsung speaker that stays muffled after three cleaning runs and 24 hours of drying needs an authorised service centre. Samsung India lists service centres on its support site, and liquid damage is normally excluded from the standard warranty.

If the sound doesn't come back

Let the phone air-dry for 24 hours, then test again. If it still crackles or stays silent, book a check at an authorised service centre: Samsung India service centre locator. See also speaker cleaner for other phones.

No. Samsung offers sound settings but no water or dust cleaning sound. Use Speaker Cleaner in the browser.

Should I turn off Dolby Atmos before cleaning?

It isn't required, but turning effects off gives the cleaning sweep its full low-frequency output.
