Redmi speaker cleaner: remove water and dust
Redmi and Xiaomi phones have a built-in Clear speaker feature that plays a 30-second cleaning sound, found under Settings › Additional settings on MIUI. For water, use Speaker Cleaner's Water mode, a 150 to 200 Hz sweep: bottom edge down, volume to maximum, up to three runs.

- Main speaker: the grille on the bottom edge.
- Earpiece: the slot above the display; on many Redmi Note models it is also the second stereo speaker.
- Some Redmi A and C models have a single bottom speaker.
Redmi and Xiaomi's built-in Clear speaker
Xiaomi is the one major brand that ships a sound-based speaker cleaner, which confirms the technique works well enough for a manufacturer to build it in.
| Where | Settings › Additional settings › Clear speaker (on MIUI; on HyperOS, search "Clear speaker" in Settings if it has moved) |
|---|---|
| What it does | Plays a 30-second sound to clean dust from the speaker |
| Designed for | Dust that has made the speaker quieter than normal |
| Speaker Cleaner adds | A water-focused 150 to 200 Hz sweep, a separate Dust pulse mode and an Earpiece mode |
Xiaomi's Clear speaker feature plays a 30-second cleaning sound from Settings › Additional settings › Clear speaker on MIUI. It is designed for dust that has made the speaker quieter, so a separate water sweep is still the better choice immediately after a phone gets wet.
Redmi settings to check first
| Setting | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Clear speaker | Settings › Additional settings | Xiaomi's own 30-second dust cleaning sound |
| Sound effects / Dolby Atmos | Settings › Sound & vibration | Effects can cut bass |
| Media volume | Volume key, media slider | Must be at maximum |
Redmi A and C series phones usually have one bottom speaker, while Redmi Note models are stereo and use the earpiece as the second channel. Clean the bottom grille first unless call volume specifically is the problem.
Clean your Redmi speaker in 4 steps
- Open Speaker CleanerIn Chrome or your phone's own browser. Disconnect earbuds.
- Volume to maximumMedia volume, not ringtone volume.
- Speaker facing downBottom edge down for the main speaker.
- Press StartPlay up to three 30-second runs.
To clean a Redmi phone speaker, open Speaker Cleaner in the browser, turn media volume to maximum, hold the phone with the bottom speaker facing down and play one to three 30-second runs. The 150 to 200 Hz sweep pushes water and loose dust out of the grille without any app.
If the sound doesn't come back
Let the phone air-dry for 24 hours, then test again. If it still crackles or stays silent, book a check at an authorised service centre: Xiaomi India (Mi.com) support. See also speaker cleaner for other phones.
